“You have power over your mind, not outside events.”

Marcus Aurelius

Most of our daily stress doesn’t come from what happens.
It comes from our resistance to it.

We spend an incredible amount of energy trying to control outcomes, people, timing, and circumstances — things that were never fully in our hands to begin with. And when they don’t move the way we want, frustration takes over.

But the real leverage point is much closer than we think.

You don’t control the event.
You control the meaning you assign to it.
You control how long it occupies your attention.
You control how quickly you return to center.

That internal response is not a one-time decision.
It’s a daily practice.

And over time, that practice compounds — not into emotional numbness or detachment, but into steadiness. Into a calmer baseline. Into the ability to stay grounded even when things feel uncertain or messy.

Power, in this sense, isn’t dominance or force.
It’s composure.
It’s clarity.
It’s knowing that no matter what happens outside, you still have a place to stand.

And that place is always available.

If someone came to mind while reading this, feel free to forward it
