For years, I chased the perfect productivity system.Tags, folders, smart lists, priority levels — I tried them all.

But the thing that actually worked wasn’t a complicated system. It was a simple, 10-minute daily routine I could stick to — every single morning.

Step 1: Open the App. Look at Today. That’s It.

I keep everything in a single list called Today. Not “Work,” “Personal,” or “Someday.” Just a running list of tasks for this day.

Each morning, I ask three questions:

  • Does this still matter today?

  • Can I realistically get it done?

  • Am I avoiding something important?

If a task feels irrelevant, I delete it.If it’s unclear, I rewrite it.If I’m avoiding it, I move it to the top.

Step 2: Reorder for Flow

After cleaning up the list, I reorder it:

  • Top: 1–2 tasks that matter most or require the most focus.

  • Middle: tasks that move the day forward.

  • Bottom: optional or quick wins.

That way, when I check my list during the day, I don’t have to think — I just start from the top.

Step 3: Pick My 3 Non-Negotiables

I don’t use color codes or digital flags.I simply decide which 3 tasks define success for the day.

If I only do these, I’ll still call the day productive. They’re usually the ones that are:

  • Mentally demanding

  • Easy to delay

  • Tied to something I care about

Step 4: Done. Back to Work.

That’s it. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes. No hacks. No templates. Just a consistent check-in with my list and myself.

Over time, this daily rhythm compounds into clarity, focus, and momentum.

Why It WorksIt’s sustainable. It respects my time and attention.I don’t need to manage five lists or plan my whole week in advance.Just one list, ten minutes, and honest reflection.

What’s one habit you use to start your day with clarity?
